One screen for the whole class period

Class Zone is the tab I keep open on the projector from bell to bell. It started as a handful of tools I built for my own classroom — a name spinner wheel so cold-calling feels like a game show instead of an ambush, a group generator that remembers which two students cannot sit together, a timer with digits big enough to read from the back row — and grew into the free hub you're looking at now.

Everything here follows three rules. First, it's fast: every tool is usable within five seconds of the page loading, because class time is the one resource you never get back. Second, it's private by design: your roster, your seating charts, and your scoreboard live in your own browser's storage and are never sent anywhere — there is no server, no account, and nothing to get vetted by your district. Third, it's free forever, with no ads near your students and no features that quietly move behind a paywall.

How teachers use the hub

Type your roster once and every tool shares it — the wheel, the group generator, and the seating chart all read the same class list. Add each period as its own roster and switch between them in one click.

Frequently asked questions

Is Class Zone really free?

Yes — every tool in Class Zone is free forever, with no login, no ads, and no student accounts. It's built by The Simulation Lab, the same teacher-built studio behind our classroom simulations.

Where is my class roster stored?

Only in your own browser, on your own device, using localStorage. Nothing you type ever leaves your computer, so there is no student data for anyone to collect.

Does Class Zone work on an interactive whiteboard or iPad?

Yes. Every tool is touch-friendly with large tap targets, works in any modern browser, and is designed to live on your projector all class period.
