What this site collects, and what it doesn't.

The Simulation Lab is run by one practicing classroom teacher. This page describes what actually happens, in plain language, rather than what a template says usually happens.

The short version

This website does not ask students for anything. There are no student accounts, no logins, and no sign-up.
The only personal information collected here is an email address, and only when an adult chooses to type one into a form to request a free resource.
Student work created inside a purchased simulation is saved to the teacher's own Google Sheet, inside the teacher's own Google account. It does not come to me.
There is no advertising network, no retargeting pixel, and nothing here is sold or rented to anyone.

Email addresses

When you submit an email address on this site — for the free simulation, or any other free resource — it is sent to MailerLite, the service that stores the mailing list and sends the emails.

Sign-up is double opt-in. You receive one confirmation email, and nothing else is sent unless you click the link inside it.
Along with the address, the form may record what subject you teach and which page you signed up from, so the emails are relevant.
You can unsubscribe from any email in one click. Unsubscribing removes you from future sends.
To have your address deleted entirely, email thesimulationlabedu@gmail.com and it will be removed.

These forms are intended for teachers and other adults. Please do not have students sign up.

Analytics

This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which the host injects automatically into every page on the domain. It reports aggregate figures — how many people visited a page, roughly where in the world they were, and how quickly pages loaded.

It does not use cookies to follow you between sites.
It does not build an advertising profile.
It never receives anything you type into a simulation.
If your school network blocks static.cloudflareinsights.com, every page and activity on this site still works normally.

Student work in the paid and free simulations

The simulations sold on Teachers Pay Teachers are Google Apps Script web apps. When a teacher buys one, they make a copy into their own Google account. From that point on:

Student responses save into that teacher's Google Sheet, owned and controlled by that teacher.
The data is governed by the school or district's existing agreement with Google Workspace for Education.
I have no access to it. I cannot read it, export it, or delete it. If a teacher wants it gone, they delete their own Sheet.

Some activities ask a student to enter a name or class-period identifier so the teacher can tell whose work is whose. That identifier is stored in the teacher's Sheet, not on this website and not on any server of mine.

Teachers and districts remain responsible for deciding whether a tool is approved for use with their students, and for meeting their own obligations under FERPA and any state student-privacy law. I do not claim to be a certified or district-approved vendor. If your district requires a vendor agreement or a privacy review before a tool is used, ask — I will answer honestly about what the software does.

Children under 13

This website is written for teachers, not for children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, and it does not ask any visitor their age, grade, or date of birth.

If you believe a child under 13 has submitted an email address here, write to thesimulationlabedu@gmail.com and it will be deleted.

Services this site relies on

Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, and the analytics described above.
MailerLite — mailing list storage and delivery.
Google Fonts — typefaces, loaded from Google's servers.
Google Apps Script / Google Sheets — the runtime for the simulations themselves, inside each teacher's own account.
Teachers Pay Teachers — all purchases. Payment happens on TPT; no card details ever reach this site.

Each of these has its own privacy policy governing what it does with the data it handles.

Changes to this page

If what the site does changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top is updated. There is no archive of previous versions; the current page describes current behaviour.
